Avenging Angel Ale 40 Pints 7.1% Easy Malt Extract Recipe

Fourty pints of Avenging Angel, 7.1% go carefully out there...

A light coloured but deceptively strong pale ale...Well Bittered, in fact very well bittered!

  • 1        2x 1.5 kg Coopers light Liquid Malt
  • 2         1x 500g Spray Medium Dried Malt Extract
  • 3          1.2 Kg Brewing Sugar
  •  4          100g Challenger Hops
  • 5           50g Bramling Cross
  • 6           Tsp of Irish Moss
  • 7            Ale Yeast. Safale S33 is good

Boil 1 , 6 and 4  as much water as possible -You're going to need about 4 gallons for best results

After 50 mins boil add No5 and boil for another 5 minutes

strain off into  a clean sterilised bucket and add no 2 and no 3 . Stir well to dissolve

Make up to 5 gallons with cold water and leave to cool below 24 C

Add yeast and leave to ferment for about 7 days or until all signs of fermentation have finished.(Bubbles stop rising)

It's best to syphon off into a clean fermenter  with airlock, add finings  and leave for another 5 days but you can miss this stage.

-Syphon off into a barrel or bottles using ½ teaspoon of sugar per pint to prime bottles or 50 to 100 g to a pressure barrel.

Leave in a warm place for 5 days then into a cool place to clear----Cheers!
