Kit contains all th eingredients you need to make 40 pints of Old Town Rogue Ale
1. 1.5kg Light liquid malt extract
2. 1 kg Brew Enhancer
3. 110 g Goldings Hops
4. 250g Crystal Malt
5. 500g Lt Dried Powder Malt Extract
6 Finishing Hops (Cascade or Wiiliamette )
7 Yeast- best use Gervin Ale Yeast
Boil 1( Liquid Malt Extract) , 4 9Crystal Malt) and 3 (Goldings Hops) in as much water as possible( about three gallons is best but you can use much less)
After 30 mins boil strain off into a clean sterilised bucket and add no 2 9Brew Enhancer) and no 5 (Dried Malt Extract). Stir well to dissolve
Make up to 5 gallons with cold water and leave to cool below 24 C
Add yeast and leave to ferment for about 5 days or until all signs of fermentation have finished.(Bubbles stop rising)
At this point add the Finishing hops. We usually go the tea bag route, make them up like a cup of tea and add the liquor to the fermenter! Full instructions are on th epacket of finishing hops.
-Syphon off into a barrel or bottles using ½ teaspoon of sugar per pint to prime bottles or 50 to 100 g to a pressure barrel.
